According to the latest data from the Bundesnetzagentur, 200 MW of balcony PV systems were installed in Germany in the first half of this year.

The agency said that capacity came from about 220,000 new systems, and attributed the recent growth to the simplified registration procedure for plug-in solar equipment that has been implemented since April, saying that the average registered total output power of such systems has increased from 800 W last year to about 900 W this year.
It is not yet clear whether all new PV balcony systems have been registered in the market master data register. The Bundesnetzagentur said the actual installed capacity may be higher because many PV system owners may still need to register their equipment.
In the first half of this year, Germany added 9.3 GW of renewable energy generation, of which about 7.55 GW came from photovoltaic power generation. The agency said that this number is likely to increase in the coming months.
"We are seeing continued growth in renewable energy, especially photovoltaics," said Klaus Müller, president of the Bundesnetzagentur. "Solar power generation increased by almost 10% compared to the end of 2023."
Germany's installed solar capacity has exceeded 90 GW and is expected to reach 215 GW by 2030. Müller called it "a huge development and a challenge for the entire transformation process of the electricity industry."
